Uniform and EquipmentIntroduction

This is a run through of the average Camp equipment that each soldier would own.

Tents

Shelter half of federal issue pattern. All poles to be natural branches. All rope to be period looking hemp.

Blankets

Maximum of 2, to be of wool construction in either grey or any shade of brown.

Gum blanket (Ground sheet)

Federal issue rubber blanket or poncho.

Rations

  • Salt pork – slab bacon, slab belly
  • Fresh or salt beef
  • Cornmeal (course)
  • Flour
  • Rice
  • Hardtack
  • Cornbread
  • Coffee (beans)
  • Beans (not baked)
  • Black eye peas
  • Fresh or desiccated vegetables

All to be wrapped in period materials, brown paper, rags, cloth or in poke bags.

Utensils

  • Period Knife Fork Spoon
  • Tin Plate / Canteen Half
  • Tin Cup

Stainless Steel is prohibited.

Drinks

All drinks, of any nature, must be contained in period bottles or drinking vessels.

Smoking

Smokers are strongly urged to smoke a pipe, if they wish to smoke at all. The most common style of pipe being clay or hand carved wooden. Small cigars are also acceptable.

Hair

Period styles of short to medium length hair. Facial hair, again any period style is acceptable.
