Accoutrements
Introduction
This is a brief run through the accoutrements expected to be owned by any member of Company G.
Haversack (Bread bags)
- Any confederate state issue, either button or buckle closing
- Any federal issue black tarred with buckle and inner bag with hand sewn button holes
- Sent from home styles based on CS State issue made form cotton, canvas or tapestry materials
Canteens
- Wooden drum (limited numbers)
- Tin Drum
- US issue smooth side (mostly 1861-63)
- US Issue “Bullseye” (mostly after spring 63)
All straps to be made from cotton, linen, canvas or leather with correct buckle hard wear.
Cartridge Box
Shoulder worn made of black leather with a leather sling. Federal issue or Enfield pattern.
Cap Pouches
- Any ANV identified pouches of black leather
- Federal issue shield front or other common types again of black leather.
Belts
Black leather, approximately 2 inches wide. Buckles to be either Georgia frame, forked tongue roller buckle, or CS plates. A small number of US plates permissible.
Bayonet Scabbard
Standard Springfield or Enfield in black leather.
Knapsack (backpack)
Acceptable types include:
- Kibbler (mexican war pattern)
- Federal issue, double bag black tarred
- Any Confederate issue
Guns
- 1861 Springfield rifle musket .58 caliber
- 1853 Enfield rifle musket .577 caliber
